project: Wisconsin Architect cover

Almost all my work is for the architecture and design community, so I was thrilled when AIA Wisconsin asked me to design the cover for the annual conference issue of their twice-yearly magazine. I chose to focus on Milwaukee, the site of the conference and deeply familiar territory for me. I’ve done business in the city for decades, and for years I had a shop in the Third Ward.

I wanted to convey the shape of Milwaukee as I see it. It’s not a specific building, and not a specific part of town. It’s new construction mixed with old iron bridges, both of which hold equal fascination for me. The energy of the image matches the energy I get from this city that I consider a second home
