I shot these images for Sax Motor Co., a hundred-year-old auto dealership in western North Dakota. Sax sold cars back when there were roads in their corner of the frontier, but no roads to it. Cars were shipped as parts by rail, and assembled in the Sax showroom—a make-it-work approach in the spirit of the homesteaders who settled this beautiful land without taming it.
